I've been trying to learn more about art lately, and a lot of my practice has been in making/editing folder and windows metro icons. At the moment, I'm just working on building up my photoshop skills with editing; not much of what you'll see here is truly original (yet). If it is, it'll be marked as such. Copyright is always tricky. I think everyone agrees that original artists deserve to see the fruits of their labor recognized, but there is so much that falls under the broad art umbrella that isn't original. Fan art is an interesting example. If you draw fanart, you are (in the eyes of the law, anyway) 'stealing' from the original creator of the work. Even the bad fanart requires work and effort, though. Some fan art is high enough quality that it deserves a spot in a museum. So, is fanart theft? What about if you use someone else's original character they made based on someone else's property? I've seen instances where the original creator
